ARGAGNAM CLASS CRUISER
Perimeter Defense / Patrol / Rapid Response | Aragos Fleet
ROLE & DOCTRINE
ARGAGNAM is the ship you see every day in the Aragos system. It patrols shipping lanes, escorts convoys, responds to border incidents, and buys time until heavier assets arrive. Where AËTHELGRIM is a declaration, ARGAGNAM is enforcement.
Doctrine assumptions:
Operates independently or in small groups
Fights inside Guardian Point’s strategic envelope
Must survive ugly, asymmetric engagements and keep flying
This is the ship most civilians recognize by silhouette alone.
PROPULSION
Contained Micro-Singularity Core (“The Steady Well”)
Class: Cruiser Mobile Well
Output: Moderate, sustained
Bias: Balanced forward fall with conservative limits
ARGAGNAM’s singularity is tuned for reliability over raw aggression. It doesn’t sprint like a fighter or shove space aside like a capital, but it will run all day without complaining.
Vector Field Drive Array Hull-embedded, mid-density distribution. Enables:
Smooth translational movement
Stable patrol orbits
Controlled lateral dodging in combat
Less extreme than capital arrays, but faster to respond. This is why ARGAGNAM feels nimble for its size.
Conventional Thrusters Prominent, rugged impulse units. Used for:
Rapid course corrections
Close-quarters maneuvering
Docking and station approach
Designed for frequent use and easy maintenance. You can tell by the hull geometry: these thrusters work for a living.
POWER
Energy Architecture
Primary Gel Pack Trunks: Forward and aft banks
Secondary Packs: Dedicated to weapons and shields
Emergency Cells: Bridge, engineering, life support
Power routing favors sustained combat, not alpha strikes.
Operational Reality
ARGAGNAM can stay in a fight longer than most ships its size
Can lose a bank and continue operating at reduced capacity
Frequently seen limping home scarred but functional
DEFENSE
Signature Management
Practical, not stealthy
Emissions are clean but honest
Hull geometry breaks up returns without pretending to vanish
ARGAGNAM doesn’t hide. It shows up.
Field Shielding: Cruiser-Grade Vector Shield Evenly distributed coverage. Optimized for:
Missile impacts
Sustained beam pressure
Can reinforce specific arcs briefly under fire. Not invincible, but dependable.
Armor & Structure
Heavy cruiser plating
Thick bulkheads between mission sections
Visible paneling and modular repair philosophy
Damage is expected. Survivability is engineered.
ARMAMENT
Primary Weapons: Twin Heavy Kinetic Cannons Mounted along the main axis. Anti-cruiser, anti-corvette role. Punchy, reliable, intimidating.
These are warning shots with consequences.
Secondary Weapons
Medium Energy Beam Turrets: Shield pressure, precision fire against exposed systems
Light Kinetic Batteries: Multi-target engagement, crowd control in messy fights
Point Defense Robust PD grid. Optimized for:
Missile interception
Strike craft suppression
Less dense than Guardian Point, but smarter per mount.
Ordnance Limited missile capacity. Used selectively for:
Pursuit termination
Disabling shots
Area denial
ARGAGNAM captains don’t waste missiles.
OPERATIONS
Crew
Dozens to low hundreds
Lean, professional, heavily cross-trained
Embarked Craft
Small fighter or interceptor detachment
Utility boats for boarding, inspection, SAR
Endurance Long patrol cycles. Designed to operate weeks without station contact.
Command Role
Patrol leader
Escort coordinator
First responder during system incidents
IN-WORLD FLEET NOTE “If you see an ARGAGNAM on approach, you still have time to make the right choice.”
CANON LOCK
Cruiser-scale biased singularity propulsion
Balanced combat and endurance doctrine
Lane control, escort, and response specialist
The most common serious warship in Aragos space
